About the Job

The Clinic Trainer is responsible for the ongoing training, continuing education and skill development of all clinical staff while providing excellent service to customers

  • Plans, develops, and administers comprehensive clinical education and development program – including technical skills, ophthalmic/medical knowledge and EHR protocols
  • Provides individual and group instruction to new ophthalmic technicians
  • Works with existing clinical staff members to develop additional clinical skills required to advance to the next level of certification
  • Ensures policies, procedures and protocols are understood by clinical staff
  • Evaluates technician skill levels through objective and subjective means
  • Coordinates in-house continuing education programs for clinical and non-clinical personnel
  • Prepares and hosts technician training meetings with the assistance of the Clinic Supervisors
  • Continuously reviews the effectiveness of the educational program. Makes changes as appropriate
  • Works as a clinical technician as needed

Qualifications

  • Two or more years of diverse clinical ophthalmic experience, working collaboratively with physicians preferred
  • Ability to function at a senior technician level
  • Certification as a COT preferred. Otherwise, required to obtain COA certification within 6 months of employment and COT certification within 2 years of employment
  • Strong leadership, writing, and problem-solving skills
  • A passion for developing successful teams
  • Ability to be supportive and encourage growth
  • Ability to handle conflict resolution and hold staff accountable
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
  • NextGen EHR experience preferred
  • Experience in employee development, evaluation,
  • Ability to organize and maintain thorough records
  • Knowledge of HIPAA
