The University of Pikeville (UPIKE) is searching for dedicated faculty to join the Kentucky College of Optometry (KYCO). Located in the heart of Appalachia, the University of Pikeville is committed to offering a broad liberal arts and health professions education.

Through education, training, and mentoring faculty members will provide students with the knowledge and confidence they need to succeed at the highest level of professional optometric services. The following specialties are available.

1. Optometry Faculty - Clinical Medicine/Management & Co-Management

2. Optometry Faculty - Clinical Procedures

3. Optometry Faculty - Anterior Segment Disease/Contact Lenses

4. Optometry Faculty - Posterior Segment Disease/Glaucoma

5. Clinical Faculty - Primary Care, Binocular Vision & Ocular Disease

RESPONSIBILITIES: Successful candidates must be passionate and experienced in classroom and clinical instruction and be ready to join a dynamic progressive academic community. These positions will require participation in the KYCO clinics providing direct patient care and clinical instruction to professional students and interdisciplinary practice with other educational professionals.

QUALIFICATIONS: These vacancies will require a minimum Doctor of Optometry Degree (O.D.) and/or Ph.D (or equivalent) in a discipline related to optometry or its associated basic sciences, residency training in the appropriate areas of Cornea and Contact Lenses, Ocular Disease, or a minimum of five years’ relevant clinical experience is preferred. Optometrist applicants should be eligible for licensure in the state of Kentucky and are expected to participate in patient care services. Prior college teaching experience is strongly preferred.
