The University of Pikeville, the Leading University of Central Appalachia, is currently seeking clinical faculty for its Kentucky College of Optometry. Professional clinical educators are sought in the areas of Primary Care, Binocular Vision, and Ocular Disease. Candidates should be passionate and experienced regarding clinical instruction. Through education, training, and mentoring, faculty members will provide students with the knowledge and confidence they need to succeed at the highest level of professional optometric services. This unique career opportunity affords an individual the opportunity to work and teach in a state of the art eye care facility as well as in fully equipped rural health clinics; while at the same time enjoying the unparalleled beauty and tranquility of the Appalachian mountain region.


  1. Provide health care to patients within the Kentucky College of Optometry clinical system.
  2. Participating in and recommending clinical curriculum development and evaluation.
  3. Providing clinical tutoring for students as needed.
  4. Traditional scholarly activity and University service. 


  • Must have an O.D. degree from an ACOE accredited optometry program, completion of an ACOE accredited optometric residency or 3-5 years clinical experience preferred.
  • Optometrist applicants should be eligible for licensure in the state of Kentucky or possess a current Kentucky license. Expanded therapeutic certification and laser procedure certification preferred but not required.
  • Must have excellent organizational, communication, teaching and decision-making skills.
