Optician/ Optometric Assistant
This is a part-time position in a rapidly growing Optometric office. We are looking for an energetic, enthusiastic person to start approximately 24 hours/week working Thursday, Friday, & Saturday. There is the potential for this to grow to a full-time position. We are looking for someone who is has strong sales skills, personable, sharp, wants to learn the optical field, flexible, a problem-solver, great communicator and a quick learner. A great candidate must show extreme attention to detail, a welcoming, cheerful demeanor and be able to provide superior customer service.
Our office uses leading edge technology with an emphasis on preventive care to provide personalized patient care in a medically-oriented optometry office.
This position requires the following duties:
Discussion with patients regarding frame and lens selection; ability to clearly convey the benefits of various lens enhancements, recommend specific lenses based on the patient’s prescription and needs, take all necessary frame & position of wear measurements for patient’s eyeglass prescription, dispense and fit eyewear, eyeglass repair, troubleshoot complaints with eyewear, calculate co-payments and discuss with patient his or her insurance benefits, submit lab optical orders, submit insurance claims
Exam scribing, Performance of Visual Fields, OCT, Optos imaging, Color Vision testing, Eye Pressure, Blood Pressure, and other testing as needed, train patients on contact lens insertion and removal, manual lensometery
Occasional Front office duties:
Scheduling appointments, triage of emergencies, verify insurance benefits, help maintain general cleanliness & orderliness of office

-Candidates must have the ability to learn technical material quickly and translate that knowledge into direct, easily understandable communication to the patient.
-Organized, precise and detail oriented.
-Good BASIC math skills
-Excellent verbal, phone and written skills
-Computer skills, typing, data input required; Familiarity with Apple (Mac) computers, experience with Electronic Health Records a plus
-Experience with major vision/medical insurances such as, MediCare, VSP, MES, EyeMed, Spectera, and Davis is beneficial
Mature, well spoken, health & wellness oriented, stable, professional appearance and demeanor.
Spanish speaking desired, but NOT required
