Responsibilities: The optician is responsible for carrying out patient-oriented procedures under the supervision of the general manager, assistant manger, other supervisor, or optometrist. The optician will assess and interpret the patient’s needs and wants based upon prescription requirements, facial features, lifestyle, occupation, and suggest appropriate products that would benefit their overall health. These products are frames, lenses, lens treatments, etc. The optician will take the necessary measurements, educate the patient on the proper care of their glasses, adjust and repair damaged glasses, replace nose pads, and missing screws. The optician will also maintain up-to-date product knowledge and process insurance claims. The optician is responsible for adhering to all company policies and procedures including HIPAA. The optician will be working out of the La Crosse and Tomah, Wisconsin clinics.
Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalency. The ability to be coachable, reliable, work together in a team environment, and patient/customer focused is very important to the staff and doctor's of Family Vision Center. The ability to have a professional attitude, self-motivation, cooperation, flexibility, confidentiality, ethics and personal development is a must. General office clerical skills, including basic computer and data entry, legible handwriting, and ability to use multi-line phone system required.
Work Experience: Family Vision Center is looking for dynamic, self-starters that will complement our already wonderful staff of employees. Customer service related work experience. Direct experience in the optometric field is not a requirement.
