Position is to work in a single physician office alongside receptionists, ophthalmic technician and optician. The office is open Monday through Friday and one Saturday a month. This position would be for approximately 25-30 hours a week. Our office uses electronic records and we are highly electronic so prior experience with computers and typing proficiency is important.
Minimum 1 year of experience and certified ophthalmic technician (COT) or certified ophthalmic assistant (COA) is a plus.
The ability to perform refraction is a highly desireable but we are also willing to teach a motivated individual.
Responsibilities are to perform preliminary screening examinations for physician review including, but not limited to, visual acuity, history taking, tonometry, lensometry, motility, pupil assessment, visual fields, simple color vision tests. In addition, will need to perform autorefraction, Optos fundus photography, OCT, and visual field testing.
Contact lens training and instruction experience necessary.
Outside of direct patient care and interaction, responsibilities would also include: stocking of supplies, maintaining physical environment of exam and procedure rooms, cleaning and stocking rooms daily. May also need to assists with ordering medical/office supplies and prepareparing contaminated instruments for sterilization.
Candidate would also occasionally assist with various clerical functions such as answering phones, taking messages and relaying to appropriate individuals. Under direction of physician, may call pharmacy with prescription refills.
