IMMEDIATE OPENING FOR AN OPHTHALMIC TECHNICIAN AT A FAST-PACED, RAPIDLY GROWING OPHTHALMOLOGY PRACTICE SPECIALIZING PEDIATRICS AND ADULT STRABISMUS.
OUR OFFICE IS LOCATED IN CHEVY CHASE, MD.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma; some college preferred.
Two to five years experience as an Ophthalmic Assistant
COA or COT certification preferred (if not certified must obtain certification within first year of employment)
EMR, coding, and scribing experience a plus but not required
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Personable and empathetic with patient's needs and concerns.
Well-organized with attention to detail.
Ability to work well within a team-oriented environment
Obtain patient history to include chief complaint, history of present illness, past medical history (ocular and general), family history (ocular and general), allergies and medications.
Performs accurate and consistent documentation and measurement tasks to include:
Confrontation Visual Fields
Humphrey Visual Field Testing
A-scan and Immersion
Basic knowledge of ophthalmic pharmacology and ocular anatomy
Maintain cleanliness in exam and procedure rooms.
Provide telephone support regarding ocular emergencies, prescription refills, patient care questions, and patient scheduling.
Coordinating a Vision therapy clinic.
Ordering contact lenses for first time contact lens trials.
Reconciling vision plan income.
