An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Ophthalmic Technician and Ophthalmic Surgical Assistant to join a progressive ophthalmic team in Bermuda.
The Bermuda International Eye Institute has close ties with several ophthalmology institutions in the United States. There is an excellent level of communication between departments. We see patients with cataract, glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and a wide range of other eye conditions. We perform in-office Avastin/Lucentis injections for AMD as well as laser treatment for glaucoma patients.
Bermuda, situated in the North Atlantic, is a lush, sub-tropical group of islands located 500 miles off Cape Hatteras, North Carolina. It is one of the best tourist destinations in the world with frequent daily flights to and from the United States and Canadian gateway cities on the Eastern seaboard. The shorelines of Bermuda are lined with beautiful pink beaches, so-called for the pink coral flecks seen in the sand. Job responsibilities will include proficient history taking, visual acuities, auto-refraction/keratometry, applanation tonometry, pachymetry, A and B scans, IOL Master, automated visual fields, OCT, corneal topography, and retinal photography.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal), an excellent work ethic, reliability and dependability are required attributes.
Specific Requirements: The interested candidate will have at least 5 years experience in an ophthalmology clinic, ATPO/JCAHPO certification or equivalent qualification, Registered Nurse with advanced ophthalmic experience.
This position is open to Full time permanent or Locum tenens as short as 6 weeks to 3 months.
