Under the supervision of an Eye Center physician, the ophthalmic assistant obtains data from patients and performs duties that assist doctors in the evaluation of patient eye problems.
Prepares patients for examination and treatment. Documenting charts and accurate ICD-10 diagnosis coding, and billing charges. Prepares prescriptions and e-Rx for doctor’s signatures. Prepare for minor procedures by setting up for, assisting with, and cleaning up after procedures. Schedules special tests with specialists or other CEA departments as necessary. Performs phone triage regarding refills of medication, work-in appointments or other questions patients have. Regular use Electronic Medical Records database. Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent education/training. (COA or COT credentials preferred.)
