Ophthalmic Assistant
This is a great opportunity to join an established, private, Retina Specialist practice in New Bern, North Carolina. We are seeking a full-time experienced Ophthalmic Assistant; certification is a plus, however, is not a requirement. This position requires someone who possesses a positive, energetic attitude while maintaining professionalism in the work environment. The candidate must also be motivated with a strong work ethic that can perform efficiently and effectively in our busy practice.
The candidate under close supervision will assist our physicians to perform diagnostic tests necessary for evaluation of patient eye problems.
Primary skills required
Comprehensive Ophthalmic history taking
Visual Acuity Assessment
Obtaining Intraocular pressure by Tonometry
Slit lamp evaluation
Knowledge and history of working with EMR
Special testing skills
OCT
Fundus Photography
Fluorescein Angiography (not required but a plus)
Education
High school education required
Experience Requirements/Preferences
Prefers 2 years working for an Ophthalmologist or an Optometrist
OR
Associate Degree or higher in a relevant medical field
OR
Certification as a certified Ophthalamic Assistant by the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (JCAHPO)
