We are currently seeking an Ophthalmic Assistant to:
• Perform visual testing in both preventative and specialty eye care
• Provide a safe and comforting atmosphere for eye care patients of all ages
• Work in a fast-paced team environment

Education:

Minimum: High School Degree or equivalent Preferred: Completed an accredited Ophthalmic/Optometric program, Certified Medical Assistant program or Licensed Practical Nurse program

Work Experience:

Minimum - One (1) year of clinical health care experience, if has not completed an educational program

Preferred - One (1) year experience as a Certificated Ophthalmic/Optometric Assistant, Certified Medical Assistant or Licensed Practical Nurse

Licenses & Certifications:

Minimum: Within 18 months of hire will achieve one of the following certifications: COA, CPOT, CPOA

Preferred - Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA, CPOT, CPOA)

If LPN, Wisconsin Practical Nurse licensure

If MA, Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:Good customer service skills

Good customer service skills

Ability to function as a team member

Knowledge of Ophthalmic procedure

Physical Description: Light: Ability to lift up to 10 pounds maximum and occasionally lifting and/or carrying such articles as dockets, ledgers and small tools.  Although a sedentary job is defined as one, which involves sitting, a certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties.  Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and other sedentary criteria are met.

Work Schedule: 100% FTE, 40 hours per week. Monday through Friday with variable hours between 7:30am - 5:30pm. Hours may vary based on the operational needs of the department.
