Medical Practice Manager

Searching for a qualified candidate to fill a Full-Time Practice Manager position at Midwest Eye Institute for one of our larger medical/surgical practices. The individual must possess prior medical practice management experience, good organization skills, plus human resource experience and knowledge. Candidate should also be able to easily multitask, provide encouragement and leadership to a diverse practice team, and eager to provide excellent patient care.

The Practice Manager is responsible for overall management of the practice, and ensuring efficient and effective clinic performance by working closely with the physicians and staff. A Bachelor’s degree is preferred.

Job responsibilities include, but not limited to the following:

  • HR responsibilities such as handling of weekly employee timekeeping records, managing office staff, training, hiring, firing, conducting performance reviews, and staff disciplinary needs
  • Responsible for overseeing any/all practice financial operations, including but not limited to service billing and collections and accounts payable processing, as well as any necessary vendor negotiations
  • Assures compliance with company policies and procedures; and responsible for development of any policies or procedures that are unique to the practice
  • Acts as Risk Manager for the practice, relative to government requirements/regulations; as well as with financial, legal and insurance matters
  • Also responsible for development, and implementation, of practice office compliance plans relative to any/all government regulations
  • Responsible for training practice staff to use all software programs necessary for their particular position
  • Ensures maximum benefit from practice software applications, including but not limited to meeting government requirements/standards for use of certified EHR software for maximum reimbursement benefit
  • Responsible for complex or problematic communications with patient, or patient families, being forever mindful of privacy regulations as required by HIPAA and related legislation and regulations; including assisting staff with the same as necessary
  • Responsible for establishing clinic schedules in accordance with physician requirements
  • Maintaining physicians’ payment contracts, credentialing and malpractice insurances
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements:

  • Professional demeanor
  • At least 5 years of experience in medical office management or similar experience
  • Strong computer skills, proficient with MS office suite
  • Knowledge of electronic health records and practice management software applications
  • Knowledge of medical billing and collection procedures
  • Ability to communicate effectively with physicians, practice staff, patients, family members, referring physicians/staff, practice vendors and payers, as well as other Midwest Eye practice managers and/or coordinators
  • Ability to resolve issues in a positive and decisive manner

Desired Qualifications:

  • A baccalaureate degree is preferred
  • Intimate knowledge of OSHA and HIPAA standards and regulations
  • Previous ophthalmology experience helpful
