The Front Desk Administrator works with the staff and doctors to keep the office running smoothly and efficiently. Ability to multitask and assist with all operation aspects of running a busy optometric practice. The position focuses on patient registration, insurance verification, and charge/payment entry.
Front desk responsibilities include greeting patients, assisting them with registration, verifying insurance, and entering all information into practice management system. Additional responsibilities include entering charges and payments into the patient’s account with correct CPT/ICD-10 codes and filing claims daily.
Other responsibilities also include handling calls, scheduling exams, selling contact lenses, and assisting with referrals.
The ability to provide EXCELLENT customer service with a smile and exhibit grace and professionalism under pressure.
Previous medical office experience (Optometry or Ophthalmology experience required).
Experience with ICD-10 coding, CPT coding and insurance eligibility verification.
Basic knowledge of medical Practice Management and Electronic Health Records systems
Effective team player. With very good interpersonal relationship skills and can work and relate well with co?employees, patients and customers.
Must have the behavioral sensitivity, diplomacy, and tact in addressing complex situations and handling irate customers.
Outstanding oral and written communication skills.
Strong ethics and a high level of personal and professional integrity.
Computer literate and very highly proficient in using MS office programs
Maintain professional and organized work environment
Perform opening and closing duties as appropriate
Arrive on time and demonstrate effective time management
