We are looking for a Director of Nursing with 3 plus years of nursing experience and an interest in patient care, management and compliance to join our experienced team.
The Director of Nursing and ASC Operations is a hands-on nursing and patient-care position with added responsibilities for clinical quality management and operational compliance of the ASC and nursing processes, including AAAHC accreditation compliance, Life Safety and other regulatory compliance, infection prevention and patient safety, performance improvement, and program development for clinical staff training.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Acts as Director of Nursing Services in the Surgery Center. Monitors the nursing needs of patients to see that they are met.
Performs duties of circulating nurse during surgery.
Supervises all non-physician employees when they are working in the Surgery Suite.
Supervises the completion of the paperwork on surgery patients generated while they are in the Surgery Suite, such as Medical Records, IOL records, Operating Room Record, and Surgery Log.
Monitors the dispensing of medication and pharmaceutical supplies in the Surgery Suite. Completes and Monitors paperwork for controlled substances. Ensures compliance with Pharmacy Policies and Procedures.
Establishes and implements AAAHC, AORN, AAMI and APIC best practice recommendations in the ASC.
Coordinates regular in-service meetings.
Trains and /or supervises the initial orientation and continued training of all non-physician employees working in the Surgery Suite.
Performs or coordinates evaluation/competency assessment of non-physician employees working in the Surgery Suite.
Reports accident, incidents and adverse reaction to the Quality Assurance Committee and Administrative Committee.
Maintains a close liaison with Administration and keeps the Administrator, Surgeon and Medical Director apprised of any problems.
Reviews sterilization procedure and instrument processing with the O.R. staff, ensuring that current and appropriate techniques are used, and routinely consults with operating surgeons and Medical Director regarding processes.
Ensures that Infection Control Policies are followed and reports any problems to the operating surgeon immediately.
Coordinates scheduling of non-physician staffing needs of the Operating Room areas.
Ensures that the O.R. has an adequate inventory of medical /surgical supplies.
Coordinates orientation and training for newly acquired medical devices and equipment.
Serves on various committees including; QAPI, Infection Control, Risk Management/Safety, and Pharmacy.
