As a correctional Optometrist, you will provide primary eye care services to a male population, in a secure environment. Hill Correctional Center in Galesburg currently requires 8 hours per week as does Illinois River Correctional Center in Canton and Pontiac Correctional Center in Pontiac. Western Illinois Correctional in Mt. Sterling requires 10 hours per week and the Rushville Detention Center requires 8 hours per week. The actual days can be flexible since you will be an independent contractor.

The 2-4 patients per hour are approximately equally split between refractive, glaucoma management and diabetic and hypertensive eye exams. Basic exam lane is on site and an onsite visual field is available. The facilities offer "free" lunch and even though this is a professional position, you can be casual.

These are well compensated part to full time positions that is ideal for any experienced optometrist that enjoys medical management of eye disease and is self-motivated. The successful candidate(s) can take any or all of the facilities.
