As a correctional Optometrist, you will provide primary eye care services to a male population, in a secure environment. Hill Correctional Center in Galesburg currently requires 8 hours per week as does Illinois River Correctional Center in Canton and Pontiac Correctional Center in Pontiac. Western Illinois Correctional in Mt. Sterling requires 10 hours per week and the Rushville Detention Center requires 8 hours per week. The actual days can be flexible since you will be an independent contractor.
The 2-4 patients per hour are approximately equally split between refractive, glaucoma management and diabetic and hypertensive eye exams.
