Eye Surgery Associates is searching for a Certified Ophthalmic Technician to add to our practice. Applicants must be a COT or COA

Eye Surgery Associates is one of the largest multi-specialty ophthalmology practices in South Florida serving the Broward County area for over 30 years. We are dedicated to providing state-of-the-art, individually based, high quality, eye health care. Our doctors are board-certified, skilled ophthalmologists and optometrists that provide a range of services to help our patients attain the clearest vision possible.

Our services cover a range of eye problems, including cataracts, glaucoma, retinal disorders, dry eye, and ocular injuries. We have the common goal of ascertaining the most appropriate care for any given patient, explaining the purpose of the treatment, and in initiating said therapy in a courteous and compassionate manner, irrespective of age, gender, nationality, and race or payment program.

Our Ophthalmic Technicians are responsible for daily patient care, the ease and successful flow of the clinic and assisting physicians by assignments. They promptly and professionally assist the physicians in patient eye care.

Communication and Patient Care:

  • Uses autorefractor and lensometers (automatic and manual)
  • Performs visual field tests
  • Performs OCT
  • Performs Cell Count
  • Perform B-scan
  • Perform Orbscan/Pentacam
  • Performs Iol Master, as well as Manuel A-sca
  • Performs Fundus Photo
  • Experience in Fluorescein Angiography highly preferred
  • Monitors patient flow, ensuring the physician exam rooms are always full after testing
  • Escorts patients to front desk after exam

Administrative:

  • Ensures that exam rooms are tidied between patients, including cleaning sinks and sanitizing equipment
  • Cleans all lenses used by doctors
  • Billing and Coding is billed and ordered (crossed trained over time)

Essential Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of medical and ophthalmic terminology
  • Knowledge of EHR/Zeiss Forum
  • Knowledge of Diagnostic Equipment
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
  • Positive team member
  • Strong organization with attention to detail
  • Demonstrated computer literacy.
  • Ability to check visual acuity, applanation, history taking, pupil assessment, EOM's and confrontation field of vision

Qualifications

  • At least one year experience as an Ophthalmic Technician
  • Being bilingual Spanish/English is preferred
  • General knowledge of insurances
  • Must be able to organize and multitask
  • Must be proficient with the following skills:
  • History taking
  • Visual Acuities
  • IOP (via applanation tonometry and tonopen)
  • Auto Refraction
  • Manual Refraction (plus and minus cyl).
  • Lensometry
  • Topography
  • Biometry (Lenstar, IOL Master, and Immersion A-scan)
  • Knowledge of Ophthalmic Surgical Procedures (Cataract Surgery, LASIK, CXL, SLT, Yag Capsulotomy, iStent, Trabeculectomy, etc.)
  • Willing to travel between multiple offices based on the demands of business
  • Preferred: COA or COT certification
