Job Summary: The Certified Ophthalmic Medical Assistant assists Ophthalmologists/Optometrists by performing clerical and clinical duties required to provide safe patient care and effectively handle the day-to-day functions of the clinical practice. The Certified Ophthalmic Medical Assistant is certified by JCAHPO and must be a graduate of a program that meets the Standards of an Approved Educational Program for the Ophthalmic Medical Assistant.
Minimum Requirements: Work requires 2-3 years of directly related experience working for an ophthalmologist or optometrist, or related experience in a health care environment. COA by JCAHPO.
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelors degree. Must be willing to maintain COA certification by JCAHPO.
Licensure and Certifications: Certified through the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology. Minimum Certified Opthamlic Assistant (COA) or Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT).
