Job Summary: This position is responsible for patient check-in, check-out, scheduling
appointments, as well as treating all patients in a professional and courteous manner. Review
patient chart to verify necessary information and signatures have been obtained. Enter new
patient information into computer. Ensure the patient feels welcome to the practice and continues
to return in order to receive top quality health care treatment.
Education and Experience:
Associates Degree or equivalent. Healthcare emphasis preferred.
Two-years’ experience in an ophthalmology or other medical practice required.
Essential Skills and Abilities:
Excellent customer service and communication skills.
Manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Knowledge of medical terminology.
Empathetic with patients ‘and co-workers needs and concerns.
Work in multiple locations.
Responsible for patient check-in, greeting everyone in a pleasant and professional manner.
Track patients in the reception area and communicate with them, as needed.
Evaluate chart data to verify all information has been received, completed, and signatures
obtained as directed by company guidelines.
Ensure patient is eligible for insurance benefits on date of service.
Patient Check-Out; Presenting and collecting fees, posting charges and payments.
Prepare daily deposit and account for all daily encounter slips.
Answer incoming phone calls and direct patients as needed.
Schedule appointments for all offices in scheduling software as directed by company.
