Hi! I am looking for someone who may be able to help me out. I am currently pursuing my COT and I have successfully passed my multiple choice exam, however, I am having trouble with the retinoscopy portion of the skills test. If anyone has recently taken the COT skills test I would be very grateful if you could please help me out with a question that I have about it. |

Yes you should subtract your working distance before you put in your answer. |

So what you are saying is on the COT skills test I DO subtract the working distance from the phoropter itself. I subtracted the diopter and a half from the sphere reading on paper before I put it in, just not in the phoropter istslf. Also, thanks for the link but I have used eyetec.net from the beginning to help me study for the COT :) It is a great site! |

I had the same problem…I’ve retaken the retinoscopy portion and received and unsatisfactory on the accuracy but not technique…it’s frustrating when one little thing is holding you back from being done!!! |

Sorry if this is a duplicate question…just don’t know if my first posted. So did taking the working distance out of the actual phoropter (and not just the net calculation) work? I’m having the same problem. |
