It is no secret that the US employment market continues to struggle. However, according to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, one industry continues to report a steady increase in hiring on a monthly basis. That industry is healthcare. With each month’s Economic Situation Summary Report, healthcare continues to represent a silver lining in an otherwise black cloud.

Employment in health care increased by 28,000 in August, with the largest gains occurring in ambulatory health care services (+17,000) and hospitals (+9,000). Thus far in 2010, the health care industry has added an average of 20,000 jobs per month, about in line with the average monthly job growth in 2009.

Local Eye Site (LES) reflects these metrics, as LES is experiencing a steady increase in the number of eye care related positions being posted to the site. Evidence of industry growth and LES’ status as the premier online recruiting community in the niche industry of eye care is the over 380 eye care jobs, and 1,000,000 page-views the LES site has received. That’s a silver lining we can all see.
