Description:
Horizon Eye Care, P.A., a 20 doctor multi-specialty ophthalmology practice, is a regionally recognized leader in vision care and has been providing the greater Charlotte community with quality eye care for decades. We are currently seeking a Surgery Pre-Certification Coordinator to join our progressive administrative team at our Cotswold location.
The essential duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
- Obtaining benefits and prior approval from patients insurance carriers for surgical cases;
- Acting as an effective liaison between the patient, surgeon, primary care physician, insurance company, hospital, and the patient surgery coordinator in disseminating insurance benefits;
- Maintaining an accurate electronic account of all surgical insurance verifications;
- Ensuring patient confidentiality and adhering to all HIPAA requirements.
Required:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- 3 - 5 years of experience in surgery scheduling or pre certification of surgical procedures.
- Knowledge of insurance billing requirements.
- Excellent customer service skills.
Preferred:
- Formal training in the financial aspects of the medical field through courses taken at technical school or college
- Basic knowledge of medical billing, medical coding and medical terminology.
