Wondering if many clinics are taking advantage, see article below
Section 179 has been significantly enhanced by the Economic Stimulus Act of 2008, which goes much deeper than just the highly publicized $600 consumer rebate. Section 179 limits are now $250,000 on the deduction, and the total amount of equipment purchased cannot exceed $800,000 (up significantly over previous years—and only guaranteed for 2008).
Additionally, for you big spenders, the Economic Stimulus Act of 2008 added a one-time “bonus first year depreciation” of 50% on qualifying equipment to Section 179. This is after the above deduction limit is reached. In other words, if you buy enough equipment to exceed the $250,000 deduction, you can take a “bonus” 50% depreciation on the rest – this is in addition to normal depreciation.
But be aware, this is a one-year increase. Unless it is extended, the older Section 179 limits will revert for 2009. So, to take advantage of the higher limits, you need to act in 200
